Araki Jippo 荒木十畝
Araki Jippo was born in the Nagasaki Prefecture in 1972 and died in 1944. His original family name is Tomonaga, his given name is Teijirō. He studied with Araki Kanpo and became his adopted son and heir. He articipated in the Japan Art Association and the Japan Youth Painters’ Association. In 1904, he received a prize at the St. Louis World’s Fair. Working on a foundation of sound traditional techniques, he made his famous bird-and-flower paintings depicted with well-grounded realism.
